BMW EV Service
How is BMW Service Different for an EV?
Whether you're a long-term EV driver or just picked up your first electric vehicle, Momentum BMW is here for all your EV service needs. Maintaining an electric BMW vehicle isn't all that different from a gas-powered one. In fact, many of the components past the battery and motor system are very similar.
This means that BMW electric vehicles still require regular servicing. Features like brakes, cabin air filters, suspension components, and more all need upkeep. Although EVs don't require engine-related services like oil changes and spark plug replacement, there are still plenty of aspects that require attention. This might sound complicated. If so, don't be alarmed - Momentum BMW's EV service team is here to help.
A State of the Art EV Experience
Our huge new facility can service your BMW EV. We are conveniently located between the Galleria and Sugar Land. You can even leave your EV after hours, securely inside the gates. Need a ride through out your day? Complimentary loaner vehicles are available for you while your EV gets serviced.

Don't trust your BMW EV with just anyone. Momentum BMW has a team of 24 EV-certified technicians, including a shop foreman. They boast a combined 419 years of experience, an average of 17.5 years per technician. Try finding that kind of knowledge at another service center. EV service can be complicated work; your iX, i4, i3, or other BMW EV deserves the best in the business.

The Best Way to Get Around Texas
A new or BMW Certified Pre-Owned car or SUV also comes with unrivaled peace of mind. New vehicles come with a 4-year/50,000-mile limited warranty and BMW Ultimate Care, which offers three years or 36,000 miles of complimentary maintenance at authorized BMW centers. BMW Certified Pre-Owned vehicles extend the original 4-year warranty an additional year with no mileage restrictions. That means less worrying and more time road-tripping on Beltway 8 or enjoying downtime at the Toyota Center.

BMW EVs Offer Plenty of Service Benefits
Owning an electric vehicle isn't just about sustainability or performance. It can also save you considerable cash in the long run, as they're less expensive to maintain than their gas-powered counterparts. Gas-powered engines feature dozens of components that eventually need attention, like fuel pumps, ignition coils, engine oil and filters, and more. An EV allows you to drive free of engine-based concerns.
Even the components shared between EVs and gas vehicles are sometimes more affordable for electric vehicles. For example, regenerative braking reduces brake pedal usage, allowing you to go further for longer on your brake pads and rotors. Plus, with less complexity overall comes less labor - which means the same service could cost less for an EV.
Filters
While you won't need an engine air filter or fuel filters, you'll still need filters for the HVAC system, transmission, and more. Keep your cabin fresh while you commute on Highway 59 or Beltway 8.
Suspension
EVs weigh more than gas-powered cars, so suspension components sometimes need extra attention. Replace worn components to ensure a comfortable ride and precise handling and steering.
Fluids
- Fluids: While EVs use less fluids than
vehicles with combustion engines, you'll still need special attention paid to
your vehicle's coolant, transmission fluid, washer fluid, and more.
Battery
EVs use a traditional 12-volt battery to power low-voltage accessories, so regular inspection and replacement are part of the ownership experience. Of course, we have the knowledge and tools to help monitor your vehicle's high-voltage battery, too.
Brakes
While regenerative braking can help prolong an EV's brake life, EVs are heavy and require significant braking force in emergencies. From pads to rotors, calipers to brake lines, Momentum BMW has the tools and parts to get your EV's brake system functioning like new.
Tires
Tires: Increased vehicle weight also means increased tire wear. Stay on top of tire rotations, tire pressure fluctuations, and tread wear to get the most out of your BMW EV.
Electric vehicles are not as complex and require less maintenance.
Some services are shared between the two kinds of vehicles. Components like brakes, suspension, tires, and climate control systems are shared, and so are the maintenance and service needs.
When used regularly in extreme conditions, Texas shoppers should expect EV batteries to last between 8 and 12 years.
All BMW EVs come with an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty.
One of the easiest ways to maintain battery health is by preconditioning your vehicle's battery before each trip. You can do so with the MyBMW app or the vehicle's onboard display. Avoid charging above 80%, and don't let the battery get below 10% state of charge.
