AutoGuide Reviews the New 2017 BMW X5 Luxury SUV: Fast and Fun with Cavernous Cargo Sapce

As it has done with many types of luxury vehicles, BMW established the luxury SUV category nearly 20 years ago when it rolled out the impressive X5 SAV (BMW refers to their SUVs as sports activity vehicles, or SAVs). Today the X5 continues to serve as the benchmark against which other luxury automakers who are newer to the SUV game are measured. AutoGuide recently spent a few days with the updated X5 and reports that BMW continues to improves in all areas.

The standard 2017 BMW X5 sDrive35i and xDrive35i (the latter is the all-wheel drive version) both come loaded with an extremely capable 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 that produces 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque and still manages a very respectable (for a vehicle of this size) 18 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. Torque kicks in at only 1,300 rpm, which makes the X5 feel exceptionally responsive. Handling and road performance are excellent, and AutoGuide says X5 drives more like a performance sport sedan than a midsize SUV.

The BMW X5 continues to be one of our most popular models here at Momentum BMW West, especially with families and couples who typically ride with a lot of gear and/or venture out on long road trips for sporting events or to visit family. Our SAV specialists can help you compare versions of the X5 and choose one that best suits your family's needs. Stop by our West Houston showroom today, or give us a call at (855)-278-1237 to schedule an appointment.
